Collaborative teacher teams consist of educators who share curriculum and take collective responsibility for students learning common essential learning targets. Many times, these are educators who teach the same grade level or subject. The responsibilities of teacher teams in the MTSS process include accountability for positive outcomes for all students, and is the shared responsibility of all district and school personnel. Accordingly, having conversations about what is working, what is not, and what areas of concern educators have is the start of laying the important groundwork for MTSS. Teachers play a key role in this process and, through collaboration, they work toward common improvement goals.
This important work involves a continuous improvement cycle of collaborative instructional planning.
