Nikki Michalak has served the network for 4 years as a technical assistance specialist prior to her current role of website manager.
Nikki received her M.S. in Behavioral Psychology at Illinois State University (ISU). Nikki strived to facilitate success for special education administrators, staff, and students by providing access to information and tools specifically designed to support students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and those with related behavior and communication challenges. Her goal is to understand the needs and challenges of educators working with individuals with ASD and be a relevant resource while empowering staff and students to succeed. She co-created online professional development as well as undergraduate and graduate courses at ISU. Nikki is also an assistant instructional professor for ISU teaching courses in special education and coursework that introduces preservice teachers to MTSS. Ms. Michalak has published in the field of ASD and informs local service provision through service on multiple leadership and advisory boards.
More recently for the IL MTSS-N, Nikki has been instrumental in the development of training offered through onlineIMPACT. She has taken content that was developed for face-to-face trainings by the IL MTSS-N and has flipped the content to be offered in an online format. She has extensive training in online content development and is a source of support for anything technical. Nikki also supports the background work of the current IL-MTSS website.
