Julie West has been an educator for 33 years and currently is the Statewide Director for the IL MTSS Network. She oversees the project and Network staff as they plan and provide research-based professional learning consisting of training, coaching, and technical assistance to districts.
Julie comes to the Network from the Rockford Public School District, where she worked for 19 years. During her tenure with the district, she was a special education coordinator, school principal, and Director of RtI. In her two latter positions, she was the primary contact for the district’s participation in the I-RtI Network, which she went on to become the director of in 2012.
In addition to leading and implementing MTSS and response to intervention in Rockford, Julie has first-hand experience with PBIS, SSoS, and parent engagement/partnerships. She also has knowledge of statewide technical assistance projects through multiple years as a consultant for Project CHOICES, as well as classroom experience as both a general and special education teacher. Julie holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a PEL-Elementary, and LBS I w/Supervisor Endorsement and Type 75 General Administration.
